This easy vegan bread dip is so flavorful and makes a great alternative to bread and butter. Olive oil is infused with herbs and spices and then topped with balsamic vinegar- YUM!

Don’t you just love when something is so easy to make and yet it still feels elegant- easy vegan bread dip is definitely one of those recipes. Move out the way bread and butter, we are coming in with something healthier and kinder to the cows.

I got the idea for easy vegan bread dip while working on my dairy-free shopping guide (subscribe for a free copy) and researching butter alternatives. Bread and butter is something that is on so many people’s dinner tables and I wanted to come up with something better and this was the creation. It’s dairy-free, vegan, and so much healthier- in moderation of course. It reminds me of a dip that was served at an Italian restaurant that I loved as a kid.

What goes in easy vegan bread dip

Easy vegan bread dip is so easy to make! You are going to need a good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar, along with some herbs, spices, and fresh garlic. Be sure to choose an oil and vinegar that you enjoy as it’s a big flavor component of the dip. I use a slightly sweet balsamic vinegar and it is wonderful.

So easy to make!

To prepare easy vegan bread dip, you simply add all the ingredients except the vinegar to a jar. I use a small Mason Jar and shake it up. Then, let it sit for 30 minutes or so to let the flavors come together. After it sits, you then pour the mixture into a shallow serving dish and top with the vinegar- so easy!

Dairy Free Bread

I love to serve easy vegan bread dip with a crusty baguette or Jewish rye as pictured. I was happy to find out that baguettes are typically dairy-free and some vegan (depending on the type of sugar used). Jewish bread is always dairy-free as it against Jewish dietary law to mix milk and meat. Manufacturers know that a lot of people put meat on their bread, hence milk is off limits. So good to know! Easy Vegan Bread Dip

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp thyme dried
  • 1/2 tsp oregano dried
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp parsley dried
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper


  • Add all ingredients EXCEPT VINEGAR to a small jar with a tight fitting lid.
  • Shake to combine and then let sit for 30 minutes for flavors to mingle.
  • Pour into a shallow serving dish and top with vinegar.
  • Serve with a warm crusty baguette, Jewish Rye- as pictured, or your favorite bread.
  • Dip. Enjoy. Repeat!


Store leftover dip in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
